About Us
Thames Medical Centre are a family oriented, Foundation Standard accredited practice. We are the largest Medical Centre here in Thames and have a team of experienced doctors and nurses on site who provide a wide variety of high quality health care services. We provide general medical services as well as specialised nurse-lead services to those in the Thames and greater Coromandel/Hauraki Area.
We welcome new and existing patients to our practice. We are located centrally in town and are a short walk from Thames Hospital and Pollen Street. We have a pharmacy and Pathlab located on site for your convenience.

We are visited regularly at the practice by a group of experienced specialists. We have Plastic Surgeon, Mr Simon Chong who visits twice a month, and performs minor surgery in our on-site theatre. We also have monthly clinics with Neurologist Peter Wright, Opthalmologist Rohan Weerekoon, General Surgery - Gowen Creamer and MoleMap.

We provide after hours nurse clinics on a monthly basis for those who are unable to attend during regular practice hours - for up to date clinic dates and times, follow us on Facebook or call our reception team.

Home visits are available for those who are physically unable to attend our practice. These must be prior-arranged with our GP & nursing staff and may incur an additional cost to cover our Doctors' time.

Our practice policy is to only notify patients of their test results if there are concerns from the GP. If you would like access to your test results, sign up to Manage My Health.

For any queries related to appointments with our nursing or GP team, please ring our friendly reception team.

Triage Clinic
We have a daily urgent nurse triage clinic. This is for when you become suddenly unwell or injured and cannot get an appointment with your regular GP.
We prefer that you phone ahead and speak with the nurse before arriving in clinic. You will be triaged first by the Nurse, then seen by the GP if appropriate, who is rostered on in the clinic. All our GPs take turns working in the clinic. We encourage patients to book ahead for regular appointments for normal consultations, and just use the triage clinic for unexpected urgent needs.
